Dave,
Xandros is the easiest Linux I have ever used, of course not considering
Linspire, as in linspire, every application you would "need" (not want) has
a price tag attached to it.
Xandros has 2 versions, Deluxe and OCE (open circulation edition). deluxe
edition comes with Crossover office 4.2, which is really good if you need to
install MS products. My desktop at home and office is Xandros, so at office,
I have Lotus Notes, Gaim, Sametime and couple of other apps running under
WINE (crossover office). I also have VMware, so I run windows in VMware, so
If there are apps which will not install under WINE, it is bound to work
under VMware.
Configuring printers, cable modem or LAN is straight forward. Even wifi is
easy, only thing is Xandros uses ndis drivers and not native drivers. One of
the best things about Xandros you will like is Samba, it is preconfigured,
so no messing with smb.conf.
I have attached a screenshot, hope it is flattering.
I have both Deluxe and OCE version of Xandros, let me know which one you
want and I will burn you a copy.
Enjoy
-GGR
