The Systems Programmer is responsible for the successful development of
several programming technologies to deliver computational applications
and databases for Main Campus and Medical Center research community.
This position will develop funded computational database projects using
open-source database products. The position may be responsible for
testing, development and implementation of new software developed by the
National Cancer Institute, or supporting developers funded by outside
agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS: BS with work experience required. Experienced programmer
with skills in Java and C++.  Knowledge of database design and
implementation using open-source database products and SQL desirable.
Experience in an academic environment desirable. Position will support
new and existing programming projects in wide variety of fields,
including chemistry, physics, biology, and economics, but primarily life
sciences. Technical Skills: Hands on Application development experience,
including: Web-based, especially using servlets; Database design and
SQL, DDL, and DML; Database optimization. Experience with any of the
following (mostly) open source projects: Tomcat, OJB, Torque, Hibernate;
PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle; Subversion, CVS; Eclipse, Linux, Perl. Other
Skills: Strong verbal and written skills; knowledge of one or more of
the following disciplines will receive preference: bioinformatics,
biology, physics, chemistry, economics, or teaching/training experience
in any fie
 ld.
