I have the 15 down / 2 up service. I have the older PPPoE
configuration. I talked to a VZ tech, who says that all new installs
are DHCP, and they will eventually switch people like me, who have
PPPoE, to DHCP. I can't wait.
I do not use the Verizon supplied DLink router. I have a normal cable
that goes directly from the FiOS ONC to an Intel NIC in my Linux
computer. I am running Roaring Penguin PPPoE (rp-pppoe)
http://www.roaringpenguin.com/penguin/open_source_rp-pppoe.php. This
gives my computer a routable IP address on the Internet.
I get the full speed using this configuration. I just tested it at
15190 down and 1766 up.
Eric.
