I have found "Beginning Linux Programming" by Richard Stones and Neil
Matthew
to be helpful. Even though it has 'Beginning' in the title, it goes
into pretty much
detail. I was able to get a handle on semaphores using it, where web
searches and
man pages just left me scratching my head. I have the 2nd edition from
1999, and
it has a chapter on threads. I expect that a more recent edition would
be even better.
Later . . . Jim
ps. I haven't heard back from Novell on the LUG assistance. If I don't
get something
this week, I'll try again.
