Wow! There is a way! I found the vgcfgrestore command, and in spite of
the utter lack of documentation, managed to figure out how to use it.
(Fortunately, it is easy to use.)

It was only my MythTV storage, but Hell hath no fury like a toddler
scorned, or deprived of her Teletubbies.
